Sixth-grader Angel Love is ranked first of the 27 sixth-grade girl archers, 14th in the middle school girls category, and 36th of all girls at the State 3-D Archery Tournament.
The tournament, sponsored by National Archery (NASP) in the Schools Program and St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, runs through February, and the shooting took place on campus during one of the club’s meeting times. NASP tournament shooting consists of three ends (sets) of five arrows shot at 10 yards and three ends of five arrows shot at 15 yards. These tournaments are open to students from 4th-12th grades who attend schools with a NASP-certified program.
“Many of our archers are brand new to the sport, and some got their start in elementary school,” says team sponsor Dennis Fazio. “It is a pleasure to work with them, and a joy to see how they support and encourage each other.”
